Collection: Ancient Roman Glass

Our classic collection, containing glass fragments originating from parts of ancient blown glass vessels of the Roman-Byzantine Empire between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, shortly after glass was invented. Each item in this collection is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

These glittering glass fragments were picked up on ancient sites in the Holy Land, and contain a wide spectrum of colors that was formed in the glass over hundreds of years. The beautiful colors are a result of the combined effects of climactic conditions and the surrounding earth, which layered and covered the glass for generations, creating a unique “patina” finish.

It is recommended that Roman Glass not be placed under water, as the patina can wear off and distort the glass’ colors.
